Now these sketches were handled well I think. As I was drawing them I completely shut myself away from the computer and just worked at my drafting table with my iPod on. The Ragnarok Online soundtrack was playing most of the time.
The more and more I draw Cheyan the more I love the character.
A brief history of the origins of Cheyan.
It started years ago when I was involved with a Dragon Ball Z Chat Based Role Playing Game known as Nuclear Storm (NS if you will.)
My main character was Ragnorak. A unintentional misspelling of Ragnarok. At the time, Ragnorak [Tenshi] was a prince of a made up planet that I called Dragneta.
Amy and I created a history behind Dragneta and created many different characters that originate from this new planet.
One of which was Cheyan. She was a guardian of Ragnorak back when he was on his homeworld. At the time, Cheyan was mostly humanoid. I still have drawings of her somewhere...
Anyway. She later inherited dragonoid looks due to the fact that I liked dragons. Heck, the planet she was from is called Dragneta. Whoda thunk?
Long story short. Cheyan had evolved from that point up until Amy suggested to make her look more "beasty."
So I took her up on the advice and got rid of a lot of humanoid qualities and such.
I couldn't change her form entirely so I opted out of the Dragon appeal and looked for more of an Iguana base.
Lachises on the other hand... (The second picture)
She was inspired from a name referenced in a Lucasarts game known as Loom and also Greek Mythology. Lachesis. Yet another unintentional misspelling.
Comic update:
Now I have a few comic ideas brewing.
First: Continuing the comic that I did in Matt Madden's Comics Narrative class last semester.
Second: Starting from the very beginning of that story with Cheyan enlisting with the Runics.
Third: What I was sketching ideas for this morning. Amy wanted this one last year. Cheyan vs. Lachises atop a skyscraper (Probably near the Prism Square. Reference for myself.)
Fourth: I thought of this one the other night. A Ridley comic! Featuring the Vagrante Sisters! (They're in my previous post.)
Before I ramble on. I'll print out those bugs again I did for work. I was inadvertently invited to a little girl's birthday and she enjoys to color. So why not?
